Tulsa Chess Club at Barnes and Noble Enjoys the New Year

Even with all the other New Year activities, the Tulsa Chess Club at Barnes & Noble enjoyed a near record number of guests and regulars for a first Friday evening of 2012 chess. The impromptu blitz tournament was a great start to the New Year with many surprises. Although young chess warrior Kenny Lin prevailed against tough competition, the surprise of the evening was the normally reserved Katie Bell, the chess wife of Class A player Allen Bell. Katie directed the 17 player blitz tournament with the help of a telephone app on a smart phone.

Merry Christmas from the OCA

Hello Chess Friends,

Times are very good for Chess in our State. Already, the tournament schedule in 2012 is plentiful, the summer camp is set for early July and OSCO awards the State scholastic championships in March. We are truly blessed and thankful for the numerous volunteers as they dedicate their time and help for the chess events scheduled in the next year.

To all Oklahoma Chess enthusiasts this Holiday Season, thanks again for your help and support of Oklahoma Chess during the past year.

Have a Merry Christmas!

Best Wishes,
Chuck Unruh
