The Second Annual Flat Earth Open was held at TCC’s 81st and HW169 campus. The tournament was a fun event with 21 tournament goers in attendance. Of the 21, 7 were class A and 2 were B including Howard Zhong an ever improving youngster who went on to win Dove Science Academy’s Scholastic Tournament in December. There were six scholastic players total, one was new comer to OCA chess Corey Wooden shows promising tactical abilities and took 2nd in section 3 of the scholastic tournament.

Allen Bell Sweeps Dog Fish Action Swiss
Allen Bell scored a perfect 5-0-0 in the Dog Fish Action Swiss held on February 11, 2012 in Tulsa. With his last round win against the rating favorite, Allen moves into Class A and takes home the 1st place Fish Trophy. He now holds the Big Fish title until the scheduled July Elephant Fish Action Swiss. Well known local singer and top junior Stephen Gehly placed 2nd with 4-0-1 on tie breaks and won the House of Stauton $50 Gift Certificate junior prize. Michael Sullivan also scored 4-0-1 for 3nd place with only one loss from a snap mate in round 2 against Mark Anderson.
